YpsiWrites' theme this year is "Write for Change." Given this theme, what type of change do you think your writing inspires and what are your reasons for doing this writing?

I hope that my writing inspires people to feel better about who they are as a person with a serious mental illness, to better understand their loved ones if they are a support person, to end the stigma surrounded my mental illness, and make changes in legislation to decrease the disparity surrounding income and quality of treatment.

What do you like about writing — or why do you yourself like to write?

I love that it gives me a purpose — to support, educate and encourage people with serious mental illnesses.
