YpsiWrites' theme this year is "Write for Change." Given this theme, what type of change do you think your writing inspires and what are your reasons for doing this writing?

The writing I do is typically historical biographies or articles about things that happened in Ypsilanti 50 or 100 years ago. So how does that provide change? The old adage is true that one should learn history in order to avoid mistakes of the past. So I hope in my writings that readers will take a look at where we were as a society and where we are now, so there is a clear trajectory about where we should go in the future to better ourselves and society.

What do you like about writing or why do you yourself like to write?

I like composing words into structures of sentences and paragraphs, and then arranging those paragraphs to create a story that has a beginning, middle, and end. Then I like editing and proofreading the article until the whole thing makes sense.
