Writing to Sort Our Thoughts
By Anke Wolbert
To me personally, writing matters because it allows me to sort my thoughts. I tend to verbalize my thoughts first and then write them more formally. Writing also matters more generally because it creates a more permanent record of a point in time. If we cannot learn from those who came before us, history will repeat itself. Especially in the current political climate, it is critical that we can see what has happened in the past and why (I study political speeches). That way we can potentially become wiser.
