What do you like about writing -- or why do you yourself like to write?
I like writing because it means I'm thinking and putting words to feelings and getting them out of my brain. I enjoy the creative writing process, and sometimes the outcome. Meaning, out of the 50 or so poems I write a month, I can find one or two lines in them, and think, "Dang, I really like that." I also like it when people can find comfort or inspiration from my work.
What part of the writing process do you enjoy the most and why? And/or what part of the process do you find the most challenging and why?
I enjoy the brain word spill. This is when words can't get off my pen and onto the paper as quickly as they are flooding my head, serving as free therapy for me sometimes. The most challenging part is making something of what I wrote during this free write. I enjoy making the mess, and I enjoy the editing; however, it can be a challenge.
